Just received the below from Ellen Carberry, founder of :

Thanks to your support in 2008, we successfully launched The China Greentech Initiative!

The initiative’s vision of addressing this most pressing sustainability issue for China and the world, while uncovering commercial opportunities within these challenges once seemed an idealistic goal.  Through the leadership of the Partners, each one best in class in the world, the potential vision can be reached

Fundamentally, our Partners, as first voiced by GE China’s CEO, believe that no one company alone can grow the greentech China market, given the size of the opportunity, the urgency of the problems, and the complexities of China.  Al Gore and Thomas Friedman write about the need for interdisciplinary, collaborative teams to rise to a generational mission.  Our first three of six Sector Working Teams, launched on Dec. 9-11 in Shanghai, were a tangible example of this, with 68 leaders from 58 organizations at the table with their sleeves rolled up to work over six months to grow China’s greentech market.

The year 2009 will be our time to deliver on our commitments to our Partners, first and foremost.  It will also be our opportunity to deliver to China and to the world a vision and actionable roadmap for
how our economies can grow based on a more sustainable platform.
There couldn’t be a better time than 2009 for us to make this significant contribution to our industries, our firms, our friends and families.

We feel honored, blessed and fortunate to have this opportunity thanks to you!

Wishing you and your families a peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Warmest regards,
Elle, Randy and The China Greentech Initiative Team
