Beijing to Install 30 New Heat Centers

For anyone that has been in Beijing on the day that the city flips on its heaters (all at once), this post will come as good news for you

Beijing plans to build more efficient heating facilities to cut pollution is one of the more interesting, and encouraging, reports that I have seen lately that people are focused on really making core changes.

Unlike many that are focused on new and shiney technlogies, that offer limited impact, the recent announcement that nearly 700 coal fire burning heat failicites will be replaced by 30 new ones, is just fantastic news:

According to the article:

The centers, equipped with desulphurization facilities, could reduce harmful smoke and sulphur dioxide emissions by 74 percent and 68 percent respectively, according to the commission. They were also 30 percent more efficient.
