With the weather of the last week finally stabilizing, I decided it is time to get started on my balcony garden.   It is  a project that is going to take a few weeks to complete as I am waiting for the soil, and preparing some boxes, but I have worms in the compost and half the balcony already planted with traditional houseplants (all but one is survivor from last year!).

Stage 2 is edible, and while my housekeeper believes we are too high up to plant anything worth eating, our success with a tomato and cucumber plant last year has only deepened my resolve to get cracking.

for the next week, the plan is to pick up some herbs, tomato, and cucumber… don’t want to venture to far out in the first week, and then spend the next week researching other items that will grow as Shanghai’s summer sets in.
