The next Green Drinks will be held on Wednesday 12 August at the Philia Lounge at 4-8 Arbuthnot Road, Central. It is very close to Lang Kwai Fong, for a map visit http://www.philialounge.com. The Philia Lounge will offer us their happy hour deal – 2 for 1 on standard drinks including juice, wine and beer.

We’ll be there around the same time, from 7pm onwards.

Lisa Christensen, Founding Director at Ecovision Asia will talk about Hong Kong’s International Coastal Cleanup Challenge. From September 19th to October 19th, Hong Kong to Honolulu, Boston to Bangladesh, hundreds of thousands of people in more than seventy five countries will remove millions of kilos of trash from waterways and beaches all over the world during Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC). Green Council and Ecovision Asia, as joint event coordinators, plan to make it Hong Kong’s largest environmental conservation programme.

Our second speaker will be Danielle Spencer, Project Coordinator for WISE (Women’s International Shared Experience Project), part of the Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC). A unique empowerment programme throughout Asia, WISE Asia is focused on helping women affected by poverty-related issues, including but not limited to trafficking and gender based violence. WISE Asia aims to give these women a voice, to connect them to each other, their communities, to women across the region, the world and to you. By employing the global connectivity of the Internet, and in particular social networking sites, WISE will create a platform for people to communicate, share, and understand.

Danielle will be showing a 1 minute film to accompany her talk.
