Shanghai Air Turns to Soup

Following my post on last month’s “improvement” in air quality in Beijing, Shanghai greeted us with what I hope is the last of their Pre-EXPO crappy days.
For those of you who are curious as to what is behind the “fog”, my suggestion would be to take a drive to Zhejiang as this is about the time that a lot of farmers set their fields on fire to burn off the husks. It is what gives it that burning smell, but unlike the burning smell of Shantou or Tianjin, this lacks the chemical tinge.
Either way, I think it is time to invest in a mask.
